Givenchy Goes Red for Holiday 2010 with Vintage Makeup Collection

Bold lips have been a hot trend for Fall, and the French luxury brand is playing the craze to full tilt with its version of a blood red lip gloss and lipstick in the new Vintage Holiday 2010 makeup collection, set to launch in October.

Rouge Interdit lipstick in Vintage Carmine is a trés Parisian blue-based red that applies deep and creamy, with a breathable finish. The matching Gloss Interdit in Vintage Ruby is an intensely pigmented Bordeaux shade that reflects a glass-like lacquered finish.

Both shades are classic scene-stealers but you'll have to adjust your makeup a touch to pull them off with style. Lehongre stresses that a well-groomed brow, neutral eye makeup and several coats of black mascara are musts when wearing a vibrant red lip.

An evened-out, soft complexion should be the base of your look.

"When women pick out foundations, they tend to pick shades that are too dark. If you're between two colors, always go for the light one," advises Lehongre.

When it comes to red lipstick, you can wear it any time of day. But this lip liner trick can help make it more appropriate for day or night use. Using lip liner as a base is helpful with dark, precise lipstick application since it will differentiate between lip and skin. By day, try a nude liner to brighten and lighten the lipstick shade and your look, and in the evening opt for a deeper, brown-red liner, which will make the very same lipstick look much more intense.

In addition to the lip colors, a dark garnet red nail polish, vintage bronze mascara, black-flecked silver eyeshadow and soft sheen highlighter powder round out the collection. Everything except for the sparkling powder will only be available online, at sephora.com and givenchybeauty.com.
